In a world where popular Hip-Hop music is dripping in sex, drugs, and the party lifestyle, it takes a special kind of emcee to be the antithesis of that. Saint Petersburg, FL artist Rival not only relishes the opportunity to spread his message of positivity and redemption, his music encourages the listener to do the same.
Always a fan of music, Rival got his introduction to Hip-Hop in the 80’s. In the early 90’s he became engulfed in the culture as both a rapper and a B-Boy, heavily influenced by East Coast style and flavor. During the 90’s, Hip-Hop became his greatest passion. Consequently, addiction began to take over his life.
During Rival’s time away from music he would have his ups and his downs. Everyone goes through changes throughout their lives. What separates Rival from the pack is the way he’s able to take those life lessons, both good and bad, and turn them into powerful messages through music.
His live shows and debut album “The Comeback” have helped him build a strong and loyal fanbase in the Tampa Bay Area… His skill has allowed him to spread his message and share the stage with a myriad of national acts.
Rival’s resume includes opening for Mobb Deep, KRS One, Rakim, Method Man, Redman, Hopsin, The Alkaholiks, Slick Rick, The Lox, DMX, The Pharcyde, Souls Of Mischief, Black Sheep, Oddisee, and Blueprint as well as shows all across the southeast region.
